MEL13, the new melatonin cream

A patented formula based on melatonin that, unlike other cosmetics, acts within the cell at a mitochondrial level.

MEL13 increases cellular energy, which results in an increase in the synthesis of proteins such as collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. MEL13 is also used to repair damaged vessels which helps improve blood circulation and increases the supply of nutrients and oxygen. All this translates into a luminous much younger looking skin.

What is MEL13?

MEL13 is a regenerative skincare cream. It uses a patented formula based on melatonin and CoQ10 to prevent and treat damage caused by ageing.

As a result, MEL13 can reverse the damage caused by oxidative stress, environmental pollution, lack of sleep, smoking, sun, etc., as MEL13 also protects the skin from harm caused by UV radiation.

Consequently, MEL13 has other applications and is not limited solely to use as an anti-ageing cream. It is a cream that can be used to prevent and treat skin lesions, such as those produced by radiotherapy because of its ability to completely regenerate damaged skin. Research into the beneficial effects of MEL13 has allowed us to apply it to a complete body care line for daily skin care that is extremely useful for regenerating damaged skin.

How does MEL13 work?

MEL13 penetrates all layers of the skin. The cream crosses the epidermis and reaches the dermis. MEL13 acts inside the cell itself, protecting all cellular compartments, including the membrane, the cytosol, the nucleus and the mitochondria. As a result, the three most important properties of MEL13 are:

  1. It is a powerful antioxidant that eliminates free radicals, which are very reactive molecules that increase in number as we age and that can lead to cell death. As such the skin looks younger for longer.
  2. It also acts at a nuclear level to increase the expression of genes that govern the anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory defense of the cells. That is to say, MEL13 promotes cellular defense, which has been shown to decrease naturally over time, which means that the skin cells possess a better defensive capacity than they would have when compared to the damaged cells that cause damage to other cells and accelerate ageing.
  3. And something very important: MEL13 acts in the mitochondria increasing the cellular capacity to generate energy required for cellular functioning.

And why is it so important that it works in the mitochondria?

It turns out that mitochondria are small organelles, structures present in the cytosol of cells that are responsible for producing all the energy the cell requires to carry out all of their physiological functions. If the cell has no energy then it cannot work, it is more vulnerable to external attacks and it will die. As we age these mitochondria become damaged and each time they are damaged they produce less energy before in the end they die.

An increase in cellular energy implies an increase in the synthesis of proteins such as collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. MEL13 is also used to repair damaged vessels which helps improve blood circulation and increases the supply of nutrients and oxygen. All this translates into a luminous much younger looking skin.

How did MEL13 arise?

MEL13 in the beginning was created as a cream to treat radiodermatitis, which is the lesion that is produced in the skin following radiotherapy treatment.
